Leadership

Ben Soep, Founder

The Soep Painting Corp was started in 1945 by Benjamin Soep. Ben's goal was to provide his clients a full service painting, coating and specialty services contractor that offered more than the typical painting company. He quickly developed a reputation as the "go-to guy" for artistic and multicolor applications as well as furniture refinishing. Ben's charisma and his good business sense led to his company developing to over 200 employees and multiple service groups. During his time at Soep, Ben was valued by his clients as an artist and a designer that also had a successful painting company. Some of Ben's most noteworthy projects include Rowes Wharf, Brandies University, and Landmark Train Station in Albany N.Y. Ben enjoys art projects and being with his family. He has two children, five grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

Howard Soep, President Emeritas

Howard became president of Soep Painting Corp in 1985. His focus was the development of the commercial painting and industrial coating service groups. Howard is recognized as having performed some of the most complex and demanding coatings projects in Boston's history including Deer Island Waste Water Treatment Facility, Gillette Stadium, Boston Gas/Keyspan storage tank, Boston Engine Terminal and NIT Stata Center. Howard is very active with the Painters and Allied Trades and was instrumental in the inception of the star program. Howard enjoys playing golf and spending time with his family. He has two children and seven grandchildren.

Matt Soep, President

Matt Soep is the third generation to lead the Soep Painting Corp. Matt joined the company in 1996 after studying Operations Management and Marketing at Syracuse University. Over Matt's 20 year career, he has managed commercial painting, industrial painting, lead abatement, spray foam, and specialty flooring projects. His focus is to expand Soep's diversity in regards to speciality services. He often states that "Soep Painting is as comfortable installing a delicate wall covering at a five star hotel as we are applying a high-build tank lining system at a waste water treatment facility." He says that the best advice he's ever received was from his grandfather, Ben Soep. He said "there's a better way to do whatever." Matt knows that Soep incorporates this mindset by "continually working to improve the way we do our projects," and he knows that Soep's customers appreciate that mindset. Matt enjoys reading, MMA, hanging out with his four children and coaching whatever teams they may be on.
