How long have you been working for Soep?
I have been with Soep for six months now.

What were you doing before Soep?
Before Soep I was doing home energy assessments under the Mass Save Program for HomeWorks Energy. Prior to that I studied civil engineering and I wanted to get back into construction. Initially I hadn't really thought about going for a sub-contractor but I came to Soep and right off the bat I've felt very at home here.

What is different about working for Soep than for other companies?
The employees, the team, comes first here. Employees are treated well and Matt has been a fantastic President since I've started working here. It's been easy talking with everybody here and you can tell that everyone is working together toward a singular goal.

What do you do as an estimator that is critical to the success of the company?
Being an estimator you are often the first point of contact. You are talking to general contractors and are not just selling them on our services but how the work can be completed in the most efficient manner possible. Soep really has the best painters in Massachusetts and it is our job to convey that to the contractors.

What is the most memorable project you have worked on?
I've won a couple of small hospital jobs but my first big project came in recently which is the Blue Cross Blue Shield In-Patient Center and I am really excited to get started on it.

What is the most satisfying aspect of what you do?
Seeing the projects come to fruition. As an estimator you know you're not going to win every project but when we do and then get to see them installed is where things are really fulfilling. That is what drives me to do what I do.

What are your interests outside of work?
Outside of work, my hours are devoted to music. I love to DJ and have been trying to network and get gigs in Boston.
